Abstract
In an effort to conform to the rigorous requirements of educational institutions as well as the business sector, educators are faced with the task of teaching writing in all content areas. This research-based project was developed to support the claim that writing across content areas foster students own development as writers. There is a growing body off research that embraces the development of best practices pertaining to writing across content areas of instruction. The primary audience for this model is fourth grade teachers however it can also serve as a tool for those who have discovered the lack of resources needed to implement writing in all content areas. This project explores and synthesizes research that is directly related to content are writing. Its contents will furnish teachers with research driven information concerning professional development, content area writing strategies, and hands-on tools that are ready for implementation in the classroom.
