Abstract
The purpose of this project was to design a curriculum to integrate social studies and children's literature and social studies in their classrooms. Children's literature gives students a source from which to draw information to help them gain cultural understanding. This project includes a curriculum that is aligned with the national standards set forth by the National Council for the Social Studies. Suggestions for further study on the connection between children's literature and social studies are discussed.
